Villa Milagro Vineyards - Phillipsburg, NJ
Villa Milagro Vineyards is located on cliffs overlooking the banks of the Delaware River at the convergence point of the Musconetcong River with panoramic views of four counties in two states. Located in an American Viticultural Area (AVA) known as the Warren Hills AVA, the eleven acre vineyard grows eight varieties of red and white American, French and hybrid grapes from which it makes its old world, European style wines.
Winemaker Dr. Audrey Cross, a retired professor, conducts frequent educational tours and classes to introduce guests to organic and sustainable viticultural practices and to teach them about wines and tasting. The winery offers frequent food and wine pairing events in collaboration with other local farms and producers.
Winery is wheelchair accessible; vineyard is flat and can be traversed in wheelchair or walker.
Winner of a 2015 award as one of the nation’s top ten sustainable vineyard, Villa Milagro uses no-to-minimal inputs and no chemical fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides. Vineyard chippings and winery byproducts are composed and used for fertilizer along with chicken manure. Five acres of the 104 acres farm is set aside as conservation area and a protected habitat for native birds and small wildlife. A soil management program completed with USDA-NCRS prevents top soil loss into the Delaware & Musconetcong Rivers which border the vineyard.
