The Pocono Environmental Education Center (PEEC) is the perfect place for learning, exploring, getting away, and connecting. With 7 hiking trails, weekend educational programs, and summer camp, PEEC is a great place for nature lovers of all ages, families, friends, photographers, youth and adult groups, scouts, students, and teachers.
An independent 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, PEEC is the education partner of the National Park Service in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. PEEC’s mission is to advance environmental education, sustainable living, and appreciation for nature through hands-on experience in a national park.
PEEC's main building and visitor activity center are ADA accessible. Additionally, there is an ADA accessible, interpretive hiking trail with benches and scenic views.
Pet Friendly Notes
Pets are welcome on PEEC's campus and on all hiking trails; however, pets must remain on leashes at all times.
PEEC's hiking trails are open year-round. Trails range from 1 to 3.5 miles (but can be combined for longer hikes) and vary in difficulty from easy to moderate. Weekend programs and workshops are offered throughout the year, such as cross country skiing, canoeing, kayaking, guided hikes, frog finds, and photography. Summer camp is also a popular activity at PEEC. Camper ages range from 3 years to 16 years and nature themed camp weeks include Forest Friends, Water Week, and Biodiversity.
PEEC also offers residential and day long environmental and sustainability education programs, onsite year round accommodation for groups of up to 300 guests for school programs and retreats, and a 3900 sq. ft. EcoZone Discovery Room with a life-sized bald eagle nest, a walk-in beaver lodge, an indoor bat cave, and fully assemble-able black bear skeleton.
The Pocono Environmental Education Center's main education building is open daily year-round. The 7 hiking trails are available each day from dawn to dusk. Public nature programs and workshops are also offered throughout the year.
There are no parking or access fees. Weekend nature program fees range from Free to approximately $20.
