Lacawac Sanctuary Historic Ice House Cabin - Lake Ariel, PA

Guest Cottage or Cabin

Lacawac's historic 1903 Ice House Cabin is situated at the heart of the Sanctuary's 550-acre property. Both buildings overlook the scenic Lake Lacawac and are a short hike from the shore of Lake Wallenpaupack.

The Ice House Cabin is nestled in the woods of the sanctuary, a preserved and protected field station and nature center.

The Ice House was constructed in 1903 as part of the second summer home of the Wallenpaupack area. It is on the National Registry of Historic Places. Lake Lacawac, which is close proximity to the structures, is a National Natural Landmark.

Due to the historic nature of the Ice House, it is not handicapped accessible.

Lacawac Sanctuary's mission is research, education and preservation of the natural environment. Lacawac promotes green living including recycling and composting.

Lacawac is a nonprofit organization run by a board of trustees.

Number of Persons Cottage or Cabin Will Accommodate

Lodge sleeps between 13 and 25 and the Ice House Cabin sleeps 5. Several rooms are private and others are shared.

Structure Access

The entrance to the facility is a 1/2 mile gravel entrance road to the main gates of Lacawac Sanctuary. The road is used by all visitors to the Sanctuary.

Guests can access the structure via car. Parking is available around the facility.

What to Bring

Guests are asked to bring sheets for twin beds and towels. Food is not provided.
