Kirkridge Retreat and Study Center - Bangor, PA

Unique or Historical Accommodation

Kirkridge Retreat Center is located on the Kittatinny Mountain ridge of Pennsylvania and offers spectacular views to the east and to the west, as well as opportunities to the explore the woodlands unique to this region. From various vistas on the property, guests can enjoy looking toward New Jersey and the Lehigh Valley or north toward the Pocono Mountains. Dedicated to preserving natural resources of this land, the governing board placed 107 of our 170 acres in permanent land conservancy in 2014 with The Nature Conservancy.

Referred to by some as a “national park for the soul,” Kirkridge offers both quiet and rest for our guests. Each of our four residential guest sites offers access to a variety of local trials for all levels of ability. The Appalachian Trail, going from Georgia to Maine, passes through our land.

Kirkridge Retreat Center was founded during World War II in 1942, by Christian clergy, seminarians and lay people. Historically its motto was the phrase, "picket and pray." Today, Kirkridge welcomes all groups and persons seeking a natural setting for reflection and renewal. Today guests continue to experience both the invitation to welcome quiet along with an equal invitation to take seriously the challenge to work for social and economic justice in the global world. Open to all expressions of people’s spiritual journeys, we are a place of hospitality and welcome to the outsider, the traveler and the seeker.
