Unique Shop
Tom and Jeanie Eberhardt - Proprietors – Eberhardt's Fresh Pickins

Luscious local fresh fruits and vegetables, yummy artisan breads, jams and honey along with a delightful array of antique furniture and accessories, vintage finds and an eclectic array of art add up to a unique shopping experience that has attracted thousands of visitors since 2011. Visitors to the area as well as local community neighbors have become friends and regular customers. A frequent comment from first time visitors is "This is such a cool place. We're so glad we discovered you!"

Proprietors, Tom and Jeanie Eberhardt, have melded their backgrounds in collecting, antiques, restoration and quirky art with their love of good coffee, fresh produce, and other tasty treats. To their delight they have met many people who share those interests as well as folks who have discovered "new to them" loves. Complimentary recipe cards that go with the fresh fruits and vegetables frequently spark a lively exchange of ideas among customers and staff.

We take our Pickin seriously here. We strive to offer an unusual selection of our favorite things. We enjoy meeting people and providing a fun experience for our customers whether shopping for ingredients for a meal, antique furniture for home or a surprise treat for yourself! We also love to chat with browsers and other pickers.

Along with the year- round art and vintage pickins, their goal is to offer the freshest seasonal produce from local tri-state area farms. They grow their own corn and some other vegetables that are labeled “Layton Local”. The store is closed Wednesdays and Thursdays. On Thursdays, Tom goes to the farm auction where he purchases the best, fresh picked produce from established tri-state area farmers. On Tuesdays they offer the produce at half price and the remaining fruit and vegetables goes to an area food bank. This schedule allows them to offer the freshest produce at the most reasonable prices possible. Produce is available when it is available locally. Since they buy from tri-state area farmers the produce is typically not available until June and then varies throughout the season as it is harvested.

Tom and Jeanie love to scour the area for antiques and keep the store stocked with fresh pickins! Displays are always changing which provides for a fun shopping experience no matter how many times customers visit.
