The Easton Farmers’ Market was established in 1752, the year of the City’s founding. For more than two and a half centuries farmers and merchants have gathered in Easton’s “Great Square” to peddle their fresh and handcrafted wares. Easton’s proximity to Philadelphia and New York City and its unique place at the confluence of the Delaware and Lehigh Rivers, made it a natural site for regional commerce and community gatherings. In fact, on July 8th 1776, the Great Square (now known as Centre Square) was the site for one of only three public readings of the Declaration of Independence. Today the Easton Farmers’ Market remains a rich and colorful piece of Easton’s heritage. Residing in its original birthplace, the market draws on its deep roots and offers visitors a vibrant shopping experience and incomparable community spirit.

All products sold at the Easton Farmers’ Market are locally grown and produced. The vast majority of the produce is naturally/organically grown. All meat and dairy is antibiotic and hormone-free. Animals are pasture-raised. Prepared food and ready-to-eat vendors source ingredients from local farms whenever possible. All farms undergo a full on-site inspection.

The purpose of the Easton Farmers’ Market is to provide fresh, high quality, local produce and food products directly from regional growers to the consumer. Easton Farmers’ Market strives to support local agriculture and preserve Northampton County’s agricultural heritage, while promoting the urban-rural connection with the farmers who grow their food. Easton Farmers’ Market also offers local food purveyors, artists and crafters an outlet for sale of their handmade products. Easton Farmers’ Market contributes to the City of Easton’s revitalization by transforming the downtown into a vibrant and important social gathering place.
