Beautify Bangor Mural Project - Bangor, PA
In 2020 Bangor Borough contacted The Slate Belt Chamber of Commerce and Slate Belt Rising neighborhood revitalization organization, asking for suggestions to improve the downtown area. Many of the buildings and store fronts were in dire need of sprucing up. The buildings, which feature beautiful architecture, were in need of some TLC.
Laura McClain, Executive Director, Slate Belt Chamber of Commerce reached out to local real estate brokers. Faith Sarisky, Realtor/Broker, of Realty Solutions PA, in Upper Mt Bethel
Township, PA immediately knew she wanted to get involved and started contacting fellow real estate brokers, who also agreed to be on board. Faith, who now spearheads the project began contacting the buildings' owners to ask permission to paint the building facades. Faith posted a sign with her business name on the first building painted and immediately realized it would be a great idea to ask local businesses to sponsor murals. This fulfills two goals - to help local businesses promote themselves and bring a welcoming fresh look to the downtown buildings. The outpouring of support was immediate and overwhelming. Businesses, artists, building owners and residents stepped up to provide their talents and time to the project and #Beautify Bangor just took off. "It's been incredible to say the least considering the uncertainty we are all facing today (during the covid19 pandemic)", said Faith. “We want folks to think
of Bangor as an artsy destination.
